Yaoi anyone?

I really liked Junjou Romantica. It's more shonen-ai than it is yaoi, however. Shonen-ai translates to something like "boy's love," and usually stays in the PG-13 area (may involve kissing, but no sex scenes). It's just about love, with stories about the couples. It's really sweet, and it's just like a Japanese drama anime centered about gay couples.

Yaoi by definition is much more graphic, and it's usually like cartoon porn. In that case, I'm not sure if it's allowed to be discussed on EmptyClosets................

 

A good anime, however short, is Loveless

 

I agree with phospholipase's suggestion - Junjou Romantica is great. It follows the lives of three couples. There's a good amount of comedy with lots of intimate moments as well.

It makes sense to categorize it as shounen-ai moreso than yaoi. IIRC, the sex scenes in the anime are more implicit than explicit. So you can fill in the gaps for what happens each time

 

Well, I have my share of yaoi shows, but I'm afraid they might be too explicit to talk about on here....hehe.

 

I much prefer shounen-ai. See I have always found Shounen-ai a little sincere over it's straight counterpart. To much fan service, where I have always found that shounen-ai really takes some serious relationship issues.

I recomment Junjou Romantica as well. Shinobu is my favorite character. And there is another one is Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi.

 

I second Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi! It has some crossover with Junjou Romantica.

 

I think junjou romantica is the best yaoi! I'm sorry i know that show has been mentioned 500 times. There is also loveless.

 

I used to be really into yaoi. In fact my username here was partially inspired by it, in a roundabout sort of way ;-;

Actually I didn't care that much for JJR, though a vast majority of yaoi fans I know enjoyed it thoroughly so sure I'd reccommend that too i guess~

 

I don't like Yaoi as in the pure meaning of it (very explicit) because its basically "gay hentai", porn, in other words, so I don't know any in this department, might take a look later.

Yet, I used to watch a lot of anime with Shoujo (mature romance) and Shounen, now watching Shounen-ai (boys romance).

I'm watching No.6 right now, yes the name is "No.6".

I will give you a brief introduction, might contain light spoilers but nothing beyond the Anime official description.

It takes place in a not distant post war futuristic world where "areas" have been built to gather citizines in ideal cities, cities that work in a perfect way. Everything is automated, people follow strict loyalty rules and social classes are split knowledge and grades, QI basically. However, something is wrong with the government of this system.

The young protagonist life's starts to change when he is 12, after sympathizing with a fugitive prisoner that invaded his room, he gives him shelter. He neglectes reporting the situation and is taken responsible for aiding him in his escape, the young boy loses his status as elite and benefits. 4 years later, they met again and thats where things heat up and the secrets behind the city's system start to be unveiled...

The shounen-ai is quite subtle, but its a sweet romance! I recommend.

I will message you (OP) the site where you can find the full anime because its quite hard to find, I'm not sure if I can post it publicly.

Another anime with Shoujo (mature romance) that I loved a lot was PLAN3TES (Planetes), and one with a bit of Shounen-ai and lots of doujoshini (not sure if its right, but its dirty stuff) Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Please note that none of these are solely focused on Shounen/Shoujo, they just have them in between.

I agree with all the others that say Junjou Romantica. That is the best yaoi anime I've ever found.
