This is for anyone who has been to see a band or pop group play live. What was the first gig you ever went to? Any memories? Mine was Bon Jovi, 16th June 2001 - the day after my 20th birthday. Venue was Milton Keynes Bowl, UK, and it rained all evening. Was a great show. At the end, on the way out, a police officer pushed past me and almost sent me and my gf flying down some stairs. I actually turned round and almost punched him before I got dragged away by the missus lol.
I won't count the tribute bands I've seen but the first group I saw in a proper venue was Return to Forever at the Hollywood Bowl in 2010. John Scofield opened and Chaka Khan and Stevie Wonder made guest appearances. It was pretty damn great. It was a birthday surprise by my uncle.
Late of the Pier, Tivoli Utrecht (NL), 22 November 2008. I had no idea what to expect but it was GREAT. Me and my friends stood at the very front and I had a lot of fun pogoing and jumping around. I'm addicted to live gigs ever since.
I have never been to any kind of concert or band. I have only been to an orchestra or ballet, one time each. I really would like to be at a good concert, but I sure won't pay that price to go alone.
Phil Collins/Genesis in Birmingham with b/f....great atmosphere but crap sound...put me off from going to other big live concerts... Many years later Status Quo at a smaller gig..much better..

Also 2011 Take That in manchester but Id rather keep that quirt it wasn`t my idea .
Why? I saw them In Birmingham and really enjoyed it...
When i was 13ish i went to see Greenday at Milton Keynes Bowl. It was an awesome first gig, but it was the hottest day of the year and i spent all day stuck in the crowd gasping for a drink because i got near the front and there was no way i was moving. Jimmy Eat World and Taking Back Sunday supported them and i loved those two as well. The best gig i have ever been to would definitely be Muse at Wembley Stadium, my favourite band in the best possible venue in the UK. A night i'll never forget, they played Ruled by Secrecy which was the most amazing song to hear live.
I wanted to go to that gig, but I couldn't get tickets I saw them at Birmingham NIA, and the Leeds or Reading festivals but I can't remember the years - about the same time I'd guess
Shame you couldn't get tickets, they had an awesome fireworks display at the end. Although i'm not a huge fan of Greenday anymore, it was a pretty awesome first gig.
Yeah I kinda got bored after American Idiot. The new album Tre sounds ok, not so sure about Uno and Dos though. MK Bowl was an excellent venue
A saw Korn in concert during high-school, and all I really remember is feeling like throwing up the whole time because of the revolting stench of marijuana everywhere.
It isn't a band, but my first concert was "Elton John" when I was five. Ironic, I know. Haha. I don't remember much, just that I LOVED seeing his purple glasses.
The California Raisin's Ice Capades. I don't remember much about it. I was pretty young at the time. I don't even know if you could consider it a concert. They probably just played a tape through the PA while bunch of guys in goofy costumes skated around on ice. I can't imagine they had any live vocalists. For an actual concert it would probably be either Slayer or The Who in 2006. Those would be the first that I actually paid money to go see. There have been other times at bars or on Canada Day or some other outdoor event that there have been live bands but I honestly can't say that I went there solely for the music.
