You're absolutely not the only one. I'm a fan of black metal (of nearly all kinds), melo-death, folk metal, post-metal, and power metal.

Whether you like it or not, Marilyn Manson is probably the most well-known figure in industrial metal, aside from maybe Trent Reznor (i.e. Nine Inch Nails), and even that's a stretch. And you can't blame someone for going for whom they've heard of. If it really bothers you that much that agonizingnose likes Marilyn Manson, you'll stand a better chance of changing changing his mind by introducing him to better industrial metal acts than you will with the "no stop" method.
I like black metal. Enochian Crescent, Charnel Winds, Angantyr, Nasheim, Burzum, Gorogoth, Impaled Nazarene, and Arvet. I don't really care much for any other metal genre, but I like Ministry as well.
I used to listen to a bunch of different kinds of metal, mainly from Finland and Scandinavia, like Moonsorrow, Finntroll, Korpiklaani, Ensiferum, Wintersun, Stratovarius, Sonata Arctica, Dimmu Borgir, Nightwish, Kalmah, Norther, Sirenia, Tristania, Therion...all of this crap is still on my iPod but I don't really listen to it anymore... If Rammstein counts as metal then I that too I guess, along with other NDH bands like Megaherz and Eisbrecher.
Very true, but here in America (where I live), if you ask someone who Marilyn Manson is and ask them who Rammstein are, they're more likely to be able to answer the first question. So that colors my perceptions of bands' relative popularity.
I would debate that kids would know Rammstein more so than Nine Inch Nails though. At least in my neck of the woods.
Hell Yeah! Amon Amarth, Behemoth, Belphegor, Cephalic Carnage, Damnable, Decapitated, Kataklysm, Lost Soul, Through the Eyes of the Dead, Vital Remains. To name a few. And speaking of Rammstein, watch an episode of power rangers on mute and play Du Hast, its pretty epic.
