I love musicals. What are your guy's favorite musicals? It can be anything as long as it's a musical. It could be a movie, theatrical production, or whatever. My favorites would have to be Repo The Genetic Opera and Wicked. I love many others though. Those are just my two favorites. For those that aren't familiar with Repo, it's a rock opera, it's also got lots of gore, it's very awesome though. It's not your average musical.

The only musical I've seen on Broadway is Mamma Mia and loved it, so was thrilled when it came out in theatres years later and Meryl Streep (the best actress ever :icon_wink ) was in one of the starring roles!

Anyway, I also really like Rent, Grease and sometimes I'll have a listen to Hairspray, though I haven't seen it in a lonnnnnnng time.

I've only seen the ones I've been asked to work for, but RENT and Hair have definitely been my favorites so far.

Probably not. "Hair" is a musical from the 60s that sort of epitomized the flower children/hippies, the protest movement, and the freel love era. It was extremely controversial because it included male and female frontal nudity. (It also has some great music.)

Repo! The Genetic Opera, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Priscilla Queen of the Desert and Little Shop of Horrors are my top five musicals.

The Phantom of the Opera will always have a soft spot in my heart though.

I saw "Cabaret" in Stratford, ON. It was spectacular!

It was very lively, with some of the actors coming into the audience.

And it also had the very dark aspect of the movie. It was amazing!

Oh, and I also saw "Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well and Living in Paris." There's not much to the musical, but vocally, it was AMAZING. oh my god!

Dr. Horrible: Sing Along Blog, the first musical i've ever watched! Neil Patrick Harris + Felicia Day + Nathan Fillion + Joss Whedon = Ubber Fun!

I watched another musical on youtube, called Bare: A Pop Opera. I really loved it. The story and the lyrics/songs are awesome! Now i'm a new fan of Michael Arden, he rocks.

There is another one, The Book of Mormon (with Andrew Rannells), but i only listened to the musical album.

Geez, this is really hard to say. Of the ones that had an impact on my life, I'd say "Next to Normal", "Bare" (the 2007 original cast recording, the NYC production that's closing today is...OK. Good subject matter redeems bad singing at times), "Avenue Q" (a good bit of fun!), "RENT", "American Idiot".

People mention Phantom in this thread - I fell asleep. But that may have been because I was in a horrible seat, I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to not being able to see anything. However, I did like another ALW musical, "Jesus Christ Superstar", but that's obviously completely different.

In terms of pure entertainment value, "Book of Mormon" is completely awesome. I've seen it like 7 times or so!
