I have been raised on the exploits of Cleese, Idle, Chapman, Gilliam, Jones and Palin, due to my father's taste in comedy.

And I love it  Say no more, say no more. Wink, Wink, Nudge, Nudge.

For those who don't know it, it was a Comedy sketch show, featuring the cast including various animations from Gilliam (which incidentally influenced South Park in their animation ).

Any other Python fans? Or will I be forced to repeat the Dead Parrot Sketch on my own?

Ironicly I am working my way through all 4 of the films this week.
One film each night. Tonight is Life of Brian.

Yeah, I'm a Monty Python fan. I think I've seen the entire Flying Circus series because my friend's dad has all the episodes on video as well as all the films and even a few books about the group.

I never really got the Monty Python humor. I think it was just too surreal for me. I saw "The Meaning of Life" at the cinema and didn't really enjoy it that much.

The Galaxy Song is a classic IMHO though (especially the last line)

I preferred the more satirical stuff like 'Not The Nine O'clock News' and 'Spitting Image', and more spontaneous stuff like 'Have I Got News For You'.

'Not The Nine O'clock News' seems rather homophobic and racist now, but this was the norm at the time.

Speaking as one who grew up with Python in the 70s...well done!! It hasn't aged a bit...unlike me, who has aged terribly!!

Gotta love Monty Python. I've lost count of how many times I've seen the Holy Grail. My favorite scene of all time is when King Arthur meets his peasants while they build a mud hut and a conversation on how he "became" king ensues. Something about a farcical aquatic ceremony I believe.

I convinced my Ancient Civilizations teachers the Holy Grail would be a good educational film.

Wife of Guest: We have to go — um — I’m having rather heavy period.
    [awkward pause]
Guest: And... we... have a train to catch.
Wife: Yes... of course. We have a train to catch. And I don’t want to start bleeding over the seats.
