I know we have lots of LGBT awareness going on in the media for the positive but I noticed that this week (understandibly) there is a little bit more. First Mrs Brown and then Holby City and Casuality this week with their 'young guy old guy relationship' and '49 yr LTR couple'. Any other medic drama fans notice this?:eusa_thin

But lm in the US and only watch so much of it regularly, so no, haven't noticed.

Ohh! BBC shows as in British Broadcasting Corporation.

I immediately thought something else there.

    Barrowman is ace!
What I meant though is that you sometimes seem to get themes running through the week amd obviously this is this weeks current interest.

A couple?? From what I've seen, saying Torchwood has a couple of gay/bisexual characters is like saying the ocean has a couple of glasses of water in it.

Yeah, i've noticed it too. I think it is good that they are doing this, on casualty they even did a episode showing a transgender.

I've only seen the first two seasons. But even then, only a couple regular characters were not straight. Who else besides Jack and Ianto?

Many Sherlock fans like to believe there's something going on between Sherlock and Watson.

In addition to Harkness, in silence in the library it was implied that River Song was bi as well. In the Doctor Who sneak peek after the Christmas special they made it seem like Madame Vastra and her wife will become recurring character. All we get here across the pond are gay stereotypes for the most part. You lucky brits you.

I can't give any names because I don't actually watch the show, but I have partly watched a handful of episodes just to see what as going on, and in every single one Barrowman was kissing or having sex with a different guy. Maybe they weren't main characters though, I'm not sure.

Yeah I've noticed that recently - even stuff like Sun Sex and Suspicious Parents, People Like Us, and Waterloo Road (although not since Josh left) have gay people in - seems like it's finally becoming the norm and finally matching reality; And unlike in the past when it was done as a big thing it's now just normal.

It's amazing to think how different things are compared with 15 years ago...

Captain Jack from Doctor Who was the greatest bisexual character I have ever seen. I think the actor is gay in real life.

Hit & Miss isn't made by the BBC.

    That is all.

  16. I like the BBC but I really hate the way they set up their shows.

    Questioning
I'm pretty new to BBC's Sherlock, but I absolutely love the show's philosophy. In 1x01, there's already the questioning of both Sherlock's and Holmes' sexual orientations and it's dealt with like this, basically indicating that hey, whatever floats your boat--no one has the right to say anything:

    "I mean if you're gay, that'd be fine." - "I know it's fine."

Also, later on, I believe in 2x02 with the appearance of Irene Adler, they introduce the concept of loving a person rather than a gender (which I believe to be absolutely beautiful). Irene is basically gay and Watson frequently says he's straight, but they do have this intense fixation on Sherlock that leads to this conversation:

Watson: "Who the hell knows about Sherlock Holmes, but for the record--if anyone out there still cares, I'm not actually gay."
I: "Well, I am. Look at us both."

Aaah, makes me so happy <3
