Romantic/emotional rock songs from the 80s? 90?

I was at this pub the other day, where they kept playing these old rock songs, a few very romantic ones, like Purple Rain. And it got me so in the mood (not that kind of mood, lol) so now I really want to find some more of them. The Purple Rain song was the only one I could remember the day after, does anyone have any tips from more romantic/emotional songs within or around the rock genre, from approx. that time?

I like most types of rock, but not hard-rock or metal. Too noisy and stressful. Bands like Slither give me a headache! Metallica is rarely a win as well, too much instrumental, too little vocal. I`ve heard some punk/grunge, but less of it, and even less again that I liked. I really prefer the vocals in a song, and pay less attention to the instrument, though I love a good beat. The beat and the vocals, that`s what has the most impact on me.

I am a Bon Jovi fan, but I need something else, cause I`ve heard his songs a million times, unless you know of any obsqure rare ones. I also like Bruce Springsteen, but he usually has so low vocals, and high/noisy music in the background.

    Any suggestions for songs/bands?

    :icon_wink Thanks in advance, guys!

Obs. they don`t have to be LGBT themed or anything, lol, just generally romantic/emotional/about love or life

    Ray Lamontagne - Please

    Coldplay- Clocks

Roxette - It Must Have Been Love

  3. Vince Vance-"Bomb Iran" it brings out some emotions (probably not the ones you're looking for and it's technically from 79 but still, great song).

If you want beautiful, haunting music, You can't go wrong with anything from Cat Stevens (70's) - yes, I'm an "older" gentleman with a good memory...

Bands/artists like Journey, REO Speedwagon, Styx, Bryan Adams, and Chicago (70s and 80s) come to mind. The Eagles, too, but they're 70s.

Guns & Roses' "November Rain" comes to mind. Also Journey's power ballad stuff, like "Faithfully."

Classic rock is the best! Don't stray too far into the 90's though; that's when rock generally took a nosedive XD.

Amanda by Boston. Brad Delp's vocals send shivers down my spine. Just wondeferful and too bad he kicked the bucket.
Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton is always a classic.

The group Air Supply had a bunch of romantic stuff like the song Lost in Love. The Captain and Tanelle had the song Love Will Keep Us Together, and Muscratt Love. Also The Carpenters had a lot of romantic stuff in the 70's. Check them out! June
