ok i have a 16gb iPod Touch (still under warranty) running version 1.1.4 with the optional application pack. it was working fine this morning, but when i turned it on later, ALL my music, podcasts and movies had dissapeared! gone! vanished! OMG!!

later when i plugged it into my computer, it said that my photos were there but i had almost 10gb of "other":

Restore the ipod now and then tell us what happens. If that doesn't sort it, then I think you should send it to Apple.

I'll do that but won't I lose all my music and videos?

Yep, happened to me, just restore and sync it with your computer and it should be fine.
If it won't restore, put it in DFU mode by plugging it in an pressing both Home and Power button at the same time, when the screen goes black let go of the Power button but keep pressing Home. You should see the plug in to iTunes logo, once you're in DFU mode you HAVE to restore it, no other option.
    Hope this helps

You should really keep a backup copy of them somewhere else, in case of problems like this or having the iPhone stolen or lost. Keeping stuff in one place only, especially on something portable that you carry with you, is asking for trouble.

When it comes to data loss there are two types of people, those who HAVE lost data and those who WILL lose data. Backups are essential.

I have an iPod Touch too.
I've jailbroken mine which means that I can add apps and all on there.
My iPod usually has problems too, and yeah I restore it. I usually access EC on my iPod too.

    Its a very handy device

Excellent! As long as you have it in more than one place (even if you have to search a bit for it).
