"No matter gay, straight or bi Lesbian, transgendered life I'm on the right track, baby I was born to survive" ~Born This Way, Lady GaGa This song is my inspiration because I still don't know whether I'm straight, bi, pan or what, but I know that whatever it is - it's how I am and it's not going to change so there's no need to worry about it!
"Your voice was the soundtrack of my summer Didn't know you're unlike any other You'll always be my thunder outside Your eyes are the brightest of all the colors I don't want to ever love another You'll always be my thunder So bring on the rain Bring on the thunder!" - Boys Like Girls "Thunder" If we're singing great songs, woot woot! =D
The message of the song is good, but she pretty much undermined the message by using "chola" and "orient-made" in the lyrics. :/
Im addition to the blatant racial slurs, she basically promotes a notion of gender and sexuality that is essentialist and goes against any belief in the fluidity of gender and sexuality. It's extremely contradictory. Plus she's basically saying that people who aren't straight should juat put up with not being straight, thereby painting straight as 'the norm'. It's not really as liberating as it's made out to be.
Even though I'm Just Les. I found Lady Gaga's Mention of the Transgender community EXTREMELY inspirational! It was the 1st time I had ever heard a major pop star, or any major singer for that matter, mention my Trans brothers and sisters. She was one of the first to properly and correctly acknowledge them like that. For that, I will be forever grateful to Mother Monster!
