I need some songs that will help me feel good about myself because I'm pretty depressed about finding out that I'm gay. :frowning2:

Gary Numan has gotten me through some tough times, like the end of high school and now the beginning of college. His new stuff especially. I went to a Christian high school where you could be dismissed if they found out you were gay and had to go to church until I turned 18, and some of the lyrics of his songs really hit home with me. And I like that 80's synth crap, too, which he does really well.

^That Lily Allen one is a great one. A lot of her songs always makes me laugh, but especially that one.

I get upbeat when I listen to these two songs:
(It was supposed to be All of This by Naked and Famous). Actually the entire Passive Me, Aggressive You Album works for me. Young Blood and Spank are especially great for energy as well IMO.

Shiny Toy Guns songs like Le Disko, Ghost Town, Ricochet!, Linkin Park has some good ones, especially if you pick off the Hybrid Theory album. Flyleaf, Gorillaz (like Feel Good Inc.). Try pandora. Pick some upbeat stuff as the filter and see where it takes you.

Ha I said two songs and forgot the other one. You know, before my list. Love to Blame - Dido. That’s my new one lately. I put it on loud. Like All of This.

Call me crazy, but I actually listen to screamo, hardcore etc when I'm depressed. I know the genre in itself is kinda "depressing", but like it makes me happier, I can't really explain it. Maybe it's because I feel like I can relate to the music, like I'm not alone, I'm not the only one going through these things.

Anyway, bands I usually listen to when I'm depressed are Saosin, Breaking Benjamin, Alexisonfire, Three Days Grace, Blessthefall, Drop Dead Gorgeous, Senses Fail, Brand New, Story of the Year, Alesana, Escape the Fate, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, From First To Last etc.

Listen to the Rent soundtrack. It always does the trick for me. So many of the songs, particularly Goodbye Love, Another Day, Seasons of Love, and Will I are very life-affirming and make me think about my life in a different way, in a better perspective. I hope they might have the same effect for you.

I always listen to Lady GaGa when I am feeling depressed. For some reason, she puts me in a GREAT mood.

Keep your eye on the positive side. CYBERHUG! (*hug*)
