One Miss South Carolina contestant has a particularly difficult climb to the podium, but that has not deterred her from representing those fighting for acceptance. Analouisa Valencia, 19, is the daughter of a Mexican-born father and an Africa-American mother, making her ethnicity somewhat controversial in such a conservative state. Also, in her first year of high school, Valencia came out as a lesbian. (!)
