I know how to start but I don't know how to format it.

Basically, my whole novelette is a letter from a character in the story to another character in the same plot.

The main character is writing it to his brother.
How would I format the first sentence of the prologue to indicate that it is a letter?

To my innocent younger brother, Lance

    Do I put a ':' after Lance?
    Italicize that little bit?
What do I do with this?

Most people would use a ','. I forget what the technical punctuation mark would be, ';' maybe. Italics would probably be suitable.

I appreciate it. By the way, do you know any good contests for novelettes/novellas? My story is 16,000 words long and I can't submit it for any short story contest.

I found Glimmer Train Press and it seems like they offer a good contest called 'Fiction Open'.
Has anyone heard of them? I'm really interested on how it works!

If anyone does know anything about them, does my story have to be in manuscript form?
