recently I've been re-watching the Lord of the Ring movies and felt a great bond between Samwise Gamgee and Frodo Baggins. I felt an almost Homo-relationship there, my straight sister agreed.

I felt that the bond was more than friends. I mean come on they went through a 6 months journey together. To me, Sam felt like a clingy girlfriend/boyfriend, he even got jealous when Gollum came along. LOL I thought the relationship was kind of cute/sweet, whatever you may like to call it . but overall I thought Frodo was being a douche.

I think that the writer meant for Sam to be a girl maybe. Or the writer meant for it to be a squire-master relationship but the movie/I interpreted it wrong.

Just wondering if anyone else was Feeling the Bromance between Frodo and sam.
If so what did you think of it.:icon_bigg

I couldn't see a connection there between merry and pippin. Maybe I am missing something.

merry and pippin felt more like Harry and Ron from Harry Potter. there was nothing there.

Yes! Finally someone who sees the same thing between Sam and Frodo as I do! Can't see Pip and Merry tbh...always saw them as twins...(*hug*)

Tolkien did not intend for Sam to be a girl.

    This.

I really do not see any romantic overtones there.

You know, I think I'm actually the odd one out here.

I love LotR & I've probably watched it a million times, but I never really picked up on the whole "bromance/gay love" thing. Every time I watch it with friends/family I'll hear some snickering & stuff, but I've always thought they're just really good friends D:

^^Likewise. I didn't think they were gay, just inseparable platonic friends. Not to mention facing death every so often brings people together.

I've been rereading the book and Tolkien is really making it hard not to ship them when Sam keeps watching Frodo sleep.
I didn't really see it that way in the movies until I came to this. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Dude, old news, lol! For us old timers (took new photos today, I look old as hell) Sam and Frodo have been banging in the bushes since the books. No seriously, yeah, I think in any rational books/movies it would have been official as the two of them have the most longing looks, casual touching, emotional sacrifices and a willingness to walk to the end of the world for each other, wait, that last one is mostly Sam. So, my money is on Sam loving Frodo, and Frodo feeling something in return, but the ring keeps sabotaging and at the end he is so broken down that he`s incapable of returning it.

On the subject, I favor Aragon and Legolas even more, as they too have some heavy eye sex scenes, and a hand on the shoulder here and there, lol. My sister think they`re majorly hot together ...

I can't really see Aragon and Legolas tbh...I suppose if you squint....And I totally agree with your Frodo/Sam theory! I swear I love all these characters far too much...:help:

I'm a massive fan of Tolkien and I've started reading the books. From the films however, I thought it was a really good friendship as some have said, I didn't notice any sexual tension or romance between them but that's just me.

I always thought they played the relationship a bit gay. It's more than just deep friendship. The long looks into each others eyes take just a bit too long you know (particular at the end of Return of the King)?

I copied that right out of the book!

It's in The Two Towers... I think the chapter's Of Herbs and Stewed Rabbit but it could be the one after.
