Never read Ender's Game, but I can't call myself a sci-fi aficionado without having heard of it. I have, and I'm excited to see a big name like Orson Scott Card being put on the big screen instead of being stuck with Will Smith and the fam exploring a post-apocalyptic Earth.

I read a lot of the Ender books and adored most of them, so I'm crazy excited for the movie. The casting looks perfect! The trailer gave me chills.

I don't plan to watch it, in part because I don't want to support Card who is an incredibly homophobic bigot.

It looks like an awesome movie that I definitely want to go see, I just can't get over Orson Scott Card's views on LGBT people.

Orson Scott Card’s long history of homophobia - Salon.com

With that being said, I'll probably still hold my nose, wear a rainbow pride T-shirt, and go watch the movie.

EDIT: I find it hilarious that people make gay fan fictions about Ender's Game as well, knowing that OSC is a homophobe.

i fell in love with the book in high school (and bought 2 more books). i was so disappointed upon hearing how homophobic OSC is. i don't think i can let myself buy a movie ticket for it. i might just wait until my school plays it for free some weekend before it gets released on DVD.

I`ll watch the movie, but I won`t pay for it. That`s my way of protesting against Orson. The guy is a complete jerk, who doesn`t deserve people paying to watch the movie on his book, as far as I care. Unfortunately the book was really good though, so the movie is bound to be as well if they follow it well. But the only movie I really have to see now, which I would be glad to pay full prize to see is the new Star Trek movie coming up soon here in Norway. Gah, I`m so excited, and I just can`t hide it!

Wow, that interview article was compelling. And shows that that guy, while a PROLIFIC sci-fi icon, is a large weiner.

I absolutely loved this book in high school and have read all of the sequels. I really really want to watch this movie and I loved the trailer, but I also would feel completely wrong financially supporting Orson Scott Card or any of his works. Although I doubt it would happen, I wish that people would avoid this movie to avoid supporting this extremely bigoted individual even if he also happens to be extremely creative.

I've been thinking about waiting for the movie to come out on DVD and checking it out from the library so that I won't be financially contributing to it or contributing to statistics on how many people went to see it

Loved the book, but soured on its author upon learning of his long history of homophobia. It would be hard to see the film without getting the feeling that I'm implicitly supporting his homophobia, which is a shame, since the film may be good on its own merits.

One of the reasons I would go is because of Asa Butterfield as Ender. That dude is an awesome young actor. However much I spend to go watch the movie, I will donate that much times two to a charity supporting LGBT rights.
