The only animes I've watched (not many) and really liked:

    - Darker Than Black (sci-fi, action/mystery, cool powers)
    - Stein's Gate (sci-fi, time travel)
    - Madoka Magica (magical girl series, pretty dark)

I was watching Fairy Tail for a bit, mostly as a time-killer since it's pretty long, but I haven't due to lack of stream-quality Internet services lately.

A really good anime that I watched was called Claymore, oooh sooo good. It all truly depends on the type of anime you like Claymore is great anime but its not the longest I think its only like 32 episodes each 21 minutes in length haha idk. Inuyasha is a great anime and if you haven't seen every one of the 167 episodes and 4 movies associated with Inuyasha I highly suggest it, even though a majority is just in Chinese/Japanese but it still is great :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

My favorite is Puella Magi Madoka Magica. It's a deconstruction of magical girl anime like Sailor Moon.

I tend to like darker anime, so most of my favorites aren't exactly uplifting. Other series I would recommend:
    * Sora no Woto -- In spite of the "moe" aesthetic, it actually delves into some pretty serious themes, like finding your own meaning in life and the tragedy of war.

    * El Cazador de la Bruja -- a tale of two women traveling through Latin America in search of answers about the younger one's past.

    * Fullmetal Alchemist and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood -- Two anime classics based on the same manga that go in completely different directions and have wildly different tones. If you like action, go with Brotherhood. If you like dark, psychological themes, go with the first one.

    * Shin Sekai Yori -- a dystopian tale set 1000 years in the future, where everyone has telekinetic powers. It focuses on the dark side of human nature.

    * Princess Tutu -- ballet-inspired magical girl series that deconstructs itself in the second half

    A few with LBGTQ elements:
    * Wandering Son -- follows a group of kids as they enter middle school and grapple with the problems of adolescence, including questioning their gender identity

    * Sasameki Koto -- romantic comedy about a high-school girl with a crush on her best friend

    All of these are great.
(I'm currently watching Cowboy Bebop and I'm in love.)

    As for others:

    - Neon Genesis Evangelion
    - NHK
    - Ghost in the Shell
    - Samurai Champloo
    - Gurren Lagann
    - Tiger & Bunny
    - Eden of the East

I also watched Paprika recently, which was very interesting (though it is a film, but I'd recommend it entirely).

I'll have to agree with Tetraquark on Shinsekai Yori, it's a great anime.

You say you've seen FMA, but have you seen both FMA and FMAB? FMA was a unique story, whereas FMA Brotherhood is the same story as the manga.

I'd personally suggest Ghost In The Shell. It is without a doubt "THE" anime to watch if you haven't. Otherwise, Baccano and Durarara are great. Black Lagoon and Jormungand
are pretty cool. Blood-C is decent.

All of these are pretty violent though. For something less violent, I'd suggest Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles or xxxHolic (the 3 X's don't imply anything pornographic, I'm unsure why the authors even put those in the title). Spice&Wolf is really good.

I like the weird stuff. It's probably a lot of gore and confusion (I really don't care for the "cute" stuff)

    -Rin: Daughters of Mnemosyne
    -Elfin Lied
    -Blue Drop
    -Speed Grapher

and almost purely because it was one of the first anime I'd ever seen: Outlaw Star

I haven't seen Paprika outside of trailers and listening to the OST but it looks amazing and has an interesting story. It's sort of like Inception in a way, I need to get it sometime. Many of Satoshi Kon's work that he directed are really good.

Also along with Ghost in the Shell, I'd recommend Akira and Robot Carnival. Both are great sci-fi anime films.

    Junjou Romantica
    Fate/zero
    Fate Stay Night
    Ouran High School Host Club
    Persona 4: The Animation

If you're not a fan of horror, then I suggest staying away from Fate/zero. Great anime, but some of the stuff that goes on in the series isn't for the faint of heart. Fate Stay Night, on the other hand, has no horror and is action-ish. I personally prefer Fate/zero just b/c the characters are much more interesting.

Ouran and Junjou are on the lighter side compared to other two. They're more on the comedic side, with the latter series focusing on shounen-ai.

The P4 anime series is decent. I don't think you have to play the PS2 game in order to follow what's going on in the episodes.
