A female/trans Dr.Who? OK, I was mulling this over: I think it's time for a female or even a transgendered Dr. Who. Time to get further away from the idea of the hetero Dr. surrounded by 'hot' women sidekicks, and move into the future. Or at least I'd like to see this...any thoughts?
I am as progressive as any other person, but I can not get used to the idea of the Doctor being anything other than male. I would love to see a Jenny spin-off.
Well, I think it would be interesting to have a female Doctor or the like, but in all honesty I don't really care what the next Doctor is, I think it'll be interesting to just see a new face regardless (not that I dislike Matt Smith, but I am looking forward to things switching up a bit!). Although I don't really think they made the Doctor a "hetero guy" though. I mean yeah, most of his companions are women, but he's always just kinda come off as omnisexual or something, not really caring at all about the gender of others (well, when he does show affection of that nature at least. Though he's no Captain Jack).
A female doctor would be a nice change of pace. I don't really see how a transgender doctor would work. Isn't the doctor regenerating into a woman, kind of like a transgender transition?
I can't imagine a Doctor being another other than male. I can't see a female Doctor coming onto the scene. A transgender Doctor would be something to see, although I'm not sure how that would work. I'm not really sure. I'd just have to see it.
I haven't seen any of the most recent series; did she come back, or was she just in "The Doctor's Daughter" ? I'm pretty sure she could have survive the "big bang 2", because River was in some episodes prior to that, like the one where they met in the library, and they're forward in her timeline. ---------- Post added 18th Jun 2013 at 09:01 PM ---------- Also, I think Donna Noble would make an awesome Doctor.
You might get a kick out of this, but the next doctor should be a DALEK!!!! And Cassie, With Jenny, she is killed at the end of the doctors daughter. As for River, until the most recent season finale, we'd been going backwards in her timeline. She dies in the Library and the doctor uploaded her consciousness into said library.
I would also love to see the doctor be other than male, but I doubt the show would be ready for a transgendered main character yet. I would also love to see that, but considering the misogyny in the show at the moment, I doubt that would be a success. I believe it can only become some kind of stereotype. (And obviously that's what we DON'T want)
okay just on the topic of doctor who. This was a thought that occurred to me and I was curious what people thought. Who would be interested in a darker doctor who? So the next doctor is moody, depressed, alcoholic who doesn't care. A lot more morbid gritty etc. WOuld that be something people are open to? Don't know who I'd have though. Someone like Idris Elba would be cool Anyway yeah.
Doctor Who has always been a fairly progressive show. Especially when it was done by Russel T. Davies and I don't think that making the Doctor gay/bi/trans will be a good thing. Before it's had a good message of love everyone regardless of differences with a slight lean towards LGBT, but by making the doctor LGBT it is screaming "WE THINK YOU SHOULD THINK LIKE THIS" and would alienate people. It's better they just spread a good message than outright promote the LGBT cause.
This is only half true. Yes she died for a while and was thought dead by the Doctor, but at the end of the episode she revived and stole a ship to explore the universe in.
I like this idea. Maybe we could have a sort of combination Nurse Jackie/Dr. Who, with the Dr. batting addiction, depression and anxiety. I see the Dr. in such a scenario as having given up caring, but not having given up hope, and eventually bouncing back, wiser but perhaps more jaded.
Yeah, if you missed the end of that episode, and you have netflix, I really recommend it. It's worth it! I think it's one of my most favorite episodes of the new show. My favorite has to be the one Niel Gaiman directed though, where the Tardis ends up in a human body. That was my understanding of what happened as well. What I found interesting, is that it means that River's timeline crosses over between the Russel T. Davies episodes and the Steven Moffat episodes. Same thing with the Weeping Angels. So I was thinking, Spoiler River's a time lord , Jenny's a time lord. Maybe they could bring her back? I mean they brought back K-9 once And they went into that alternate universe with Rose a bunch of times. Still really wanna see the most recent season. Hurry up Netflix!
a male,(assuming that he is attractive) so i can fangirl over him. EDIT: but with male sidekicks. rory and craig are my two favorite companions (if you count craig as a companion). male sidekicks just seem to always be better.
In response to the spoiler: Spoiler She sort of is. She was conceived in the TARDIS and in Demon's Run it explains her DNA was affected by the Time vortex. In "Let's Kill Hitler" she regenerates
