This past Saturday was my sister's wedding. While all the guests were still arriving, my dad pulled me aside. He told me that me and my sister are what has given his life meaning and purpose and that he loves and is proud of both of us. My dad continued to say that if or when I ever get married, he'll walk me down the aisle and give me away, if I want! My dad didn't handle my coming out as well as I would've liked, so I was astounded by this! Just had to share.
Oh lucky man! I would consider you most stout-hearted if you didn't shed a few tears after hearing that! Good for you, but most importantly, good for him!
That's amazing! ^_^ I always find it that much more inspiring when a parent who was previously unsupportive does a 360, because it really shows that they have grown as individuals as well. Its not always their fault that they were raised in an unaccepting environment, but the fact that they can turn it around for the sake of their loved ones restores a bit of faith in humanity.
I sure hope he did a 180, not a 360 </picking on people for math> I'm so happy for you, OP!! Here's a happy dancing banana to celebrate! (!) May you one day have a beautiful wedding with your dad walking you down the aisle and a happy marriage ever after!
