There is this friend who is struggling with her life. So today she was sad and I wanted to become helpful, but instead I became awkward. She wanted to be left alone and I just wanted to help. Then i realized, that I can be a horrid friend. Anytime something sad or bad happens to a friend I stand in the corner awkwardly, and not because I don't want to help, but don't know what to do. Its my fear of being a bad friend, can anyone lend me helpful friend tips.

Just send her an open-ended message asking if she wants someone to talk to. Being a good listener, someone they can confide in (which means keeping secrets), is one way to be there for your friends.

I wouldn't call that horrid...unsure of yourself? Sure. Horrid? No way.
