My aunt and uncle are coming over for Thanksgiving and they are ridiculously religious. Every time they visit they bring up a conversation on religion... it drives my entire family crazy. I fear that they are going to try to talk to me about religion like they did the previous year. I just hope they never bring up gay rights... I don't think I'd be able to control myself. Also, they are occupying my room so I am unable to do much on EC. The whole thing is driving me crazy.

I'd be completely upfront about how you feel to your parents about this, and say that you feel very uncomfortable when they try to push religion on you, and would like for them to tell them that that's not acceptable.

There's a Christmas party at my aunt's house that I want to go to, but some of the rednecks in my family are going to it, and they kind of scare me. So I'm actually pretty ashamed to have decided not to go... but then, I have an exam that day anyway

Mandatory Edit: I realize that rednecks can be said to just mean regular country folks, some of who self identify as rednecks. In this case, I don't entirely mean that 'I hate rednecks', and there certainly is a context and a history as to why I would be uncomfortable. Wanted to make this a little clear.

Set them straight. If you're lucky, they'll see the error of their ways, or be so offended they won't come back.
