Does anyone else struggle to talk about their LGBTQ+ issues without getting overly emotional?

I'm totally okay with talking about it nonchalantly but people seem to think I'm joking. It's almost as if I have to be all serious and teary eyed for them to take me seriously (so don't want to do that!). Any advice on how I can talk about girls light heartedly?

Just tell them "I'm serious, though..."

It isn't an issue you can be too light-hearted with. People will continue to assume that you're joking. If you can only talk about it halfway jokingly then perhaps you aren't ready yet.
