I was texting a friend, and realized: none of the "friends" at my high school, are actually my friends. Like, I don't connect to them at all. I've connected more to friends I've made in summer programs and other extracurricular activities in the past two years, than I have since 6th grade. I had already planned on burning down my bridges when the time came, due to the conservative nature of my hometown. However, I thought that I would keep at least a few people. But...it seems that none of the people that I know, I actually know. Is this normal?!
Yes, it's normal. You lose connection with a lot of people you go to high school with, it just happens. But, you make better friends in college, trust me.
What your going through is very normal. I had "friends" in High School but didn't really connect with them and lost most of those connections after High School. You make better friends once you got to college.
Frankly, the same thing happened to me. Grew up in a pretty cult-y church, but thought I might keep a few friends. It wasn't to be. :S
