I don't know if this will help your particular situation at all, but I do a lot of work with herbal medicine and could give you some natural (and cheap) recommendations for coping with Crohn's when you aren't experiencing flare-ups, and some for soothing afterwards.

Maybe you could talk to your husband about, ah, 'taking one for the team' and agreeing to move out for the sake of getting the car, which would benefit him too? Sometimes partners have to make unpleasant sacrifices for the good of each other and their shared situation, but as long as you share your thoughts and feelings and plans with each other, your partnership can remain strong through the hardship.

I cannot help for your particular situation, but PLEASE do NOT under any circumstances follow anyone's advice to treat Crohn's disease with herbal medicine, even when the condition is stable. Keep following what your GI specialist prescribes you. We have specific guidelines on how to treat this disease and prevent flare-ups. Severe problems and hospitalizations might be caused by inappropriate treatment during the periods of remission.

Damn, dude, chill. I understand the immediate desire to prevent exactly what you just described and the potential misuse of unregulated substances, but not every stranger posting on a forum has no idea what they're talking about, or suggests dangerous measures. There are plenty of diet-related modifications people can make that fit within recommended treatments, especially when specifically tailored to an individual's needs. Reducing casein intake? Add a scoop of raw aloe to a glass of water. Issues with fiber? Half a teaspoon of slippery elm.

I would never in any way suggest anything that conflicts with or ignores doctor's orders, but for someone who has just been diagnosed, it can be comforting to be made aware of some of the available possibilities they can then discuss with their medical professionals.

    Hey welcome to EC.

I would say first and foremost forgetting the job the car and everything else do you love your husband? Are you in love with him? Do you want to be with him?

No problem. It's true what the other post said-- dealing with Crohn's is a very delicate process, and you don't want to try anything too strange or extreme, especially without getting your primary diet plan prepared with your doctor first. Those two suggestions I already made -- aloe and slippery elm -- are quite gentle and have helped two people I know personally with Crohn's. Aloe in particular is also used for Celiac disease, because it soothes and protects the intestinal tract. Again, though, individual responses to Crohn's can be different, and what works for one person might not work for you, so it's important to wait until your tests come back to determine how to deal with your symptoms. A lot of grocery stores will sell food-grade aloe in the produce department, right along with other fruits and vegetables. It doesn't taste great, but might help with the pain. Perhaps you can call your doctor and ask if including some aloe in your diet will be okay.

Are you reducing milk intake or increasing it? If milk in particular is related to your symptoms, you can ask your doctor about goat's milk as a substitute. In general, raw milk straight from the goat is much better than pasteurized/processed, but it can be very difficult to find a safe and reliable source. Goat dairies are usually small local establishments, and they don't have the kinds of facilities and permits that allow them to sell raw goat's milk "for human consumption."

As for your situation with your husband, have you tried explaining to your mother how you feel? Maybe if you tell her that you're scared and worried and you want your husband with you to help support and care for your through this difficult time, she might understand.

Thank you ill take a look and see what I can find the aloe will be easy to find I've seen it at WalMart , I'm glad to have met you and glad you know somewhat about it my doctor said crohns and I stared at her blankly like what? Lol so I'm lost to say the least ive been researching as much as i can (double edged sword) but the the aloe could be a great place to start, I've never even known anyone with this, ill defiantly ask about the goats milk I live in a very rural area so it should be was to find, as far as my husband goes I told my mom how I feel and she kinda wrote it off she just doesn't like him for different reasons and sorta abandon me so I feel, she feels like he's not providing like he should be.

Aloe is contraindicated for people with Crohn's disease. It might "boost" the immune system, which you don't want when you have an inflammatory bowel disease such as Crohn's (see Natural Medicines Comprehensive Database, a trusted reference in natural medicines for health professionals).

As I have said before, please do NOT follow recommendations to treat a relatively severe condition such as Crohn's disease with natural medicines. They are certainly NOT safer than prescribed medication (which we have effectiveness + safety data on much more patients). Doctors are well experienced in treating this disease and have very effective medication to prescribe. And as I like to remind patients who come to me with natural medicines, poisons such as arsenic are natural, but doesn't mean you should take them. Natural and safer should never be used in the same sentence.
