Ask Straight Friend To LGBTQ Dance

    So my school is having a LGBTQ dance and I want to ask a guy friend of mine who is straight and he has a girlfriend.

    I want to ask him as a friend. It's not like I want to date this guy (at most I might have a small crush on him), but I really just want to invite him because I think I would have a fun time with him and I think he will have a good time as well.

    We're both very liberal so I don't think that he would be homophobic about it.

    Should I ask him, and if so, is there a way to ask him without seeming like I'm hitting on him or coming on to him?

    Are you out? Are you sure he's not homophobic? and are you ready for possible rejection?

    Other than that, if its safe to do so, just casually ask him. "Hey, do you wanna go to the dance, as friends?"

    Yes, I'm out to him. Like I said, he's liberal.

    Be clear and up front. "Hey, there's the LGBTQ dance and I'd like to go. I know you're straight, so my intention isn't to hit on you, but if you would like to go as my friend, I would love to do that."
