How could I go about finding friends where I'm currently at, Rochester, NY? I've checked online and I couldn't find any groups that it would be ok for me to go to. I would like the people there to be around my age, 17.
Do any universities near you have LGBTQ centers you could check out? That's how I started to get connected with the community (I was in college at the time, but I'm sure groups wouldn't exclude you just because you're not a student at that university!) You could also try downloading an LGBTQ app; they can be good for meeting other queer people in your area, as long as you're safe and always meet up with new people in a busy, public place.
