Big news: I'm getting married

This week I came back to read this forum and I noticed many people of all ages are going through difficult times and some of them wonder if they'll ever find happiness.

May I take this moment to assure you happiness is possible? Just one year ago, I would never have imagined I would meet the love of my life and hear him say yes, he wants to marry me.

I was very lonely most of my life. I didn't kiss anyone until age 19, and didn't kiss anyone else for 9 years after that. I didn't have sex until age 28, and my second time was 4 years later. I thought myself to be ridiculously clumsy and inexperienced. I felt ugly (most of the time I still do). I had no idea how to flirt, how to seduce, how to speak and move in a sexy way. Honestly, I still don't.

When I decided to try online dating seriously, I wrote my profile to full detail. It took a bit over two years to cut through the false starts and find someone who after some months fell in love with me, and took a plane from his country to mine, and after some more days agreed to marry me.

I'm getting married in mid-January. I am happier than I imagined I was capable of.

So take this as a sort of "it gets better" message: happiness exists. Even for someone as romantically clueless as me.

 

Update: we got married on the 16th of January. We spent a couple of weeks at a hotel, but I still had to work for one of those weeks, so we sort of got a taste of what ordinary married life will feel like.
