I am just wondering if anyone else has ran into this type of thinking. My mom is religiously overboard. I finally nonchalantly asked what was the deal with not wanting 'gay' teachers etc. Her response actually shocked me. She without specifically stating it lead ,e to believe she thinks anyone who is gay/lesbian is a pedophile. I am like flabbergasted! Wth? How? Has anyone else run into that type of thinking. Do straight people think because our sexual orientation is not straight, we are all pedophiles?
Yup, I hear it all the time. It's irony since the majority of pedophiles in the world are actually straight men (even if they do molest boys, it doesn't make them gay).
*sighs* Seems to be a common misconception. I remember seeing an old video somewhere that implied gay men are all dangerous pedophiles who need to be watched out for. o.o (It was an informational video on safety or whatever...) I think a lot of reasons for being homophobic are based on those kinds of misconceptions about what homosexuality actually is. So, education is key!
