In my acting class, I'm crushing on this guy (I don't know if he's gay or not so I dont take our interactions seriously). I came out to a group of new friends I made in the class while we were eating lunch. It was during a long game of "who do you like in the class?"

It's only been a day since they who I like this guy and they make playful eyes and inside jokes every time I'm near him or when his name is said. I'm so embarrassed, I'm thinking of not interacting with him. Before I told anyone I like him, I tried to talk to him because he doesn't talk to most of the class.

Has anyone ever been in a situation like this?

Yeah I've been in a situation like this. When I first came out to my friend, he seemed really cool about it and asked me the people who I fancied in our year. Everything was normal, but then he started to get weird about it and every time any of them came up in conversation, he would pass a joke or make me feel uncomfortable.

What I did was say things like: "I don't like him that much" or try to make him feel uncomfortable and make him feel like a shitty friend for bring my crushes up often.

Also, you'd be surprised: very quickly, they'll get sick of all the inside jokes and move on to something else. Maybe you could just wait it out. And the main reason why they're doing this is because it provokes such embarrassment! How about pretending you're not embarrassed? They probably won't enjoy it as much, then.

You're right, they can easily tell when I'm embarrassed as I smile way too much and blush. They even code name my crush as "gum". Say things like "how long have you been liking gum?" Today in my class, my crush came in late; while I was pretending I didn't notice him, I could see in the corner of my eye my friends giggling, "look who's here"

Don't take their jokes too seriously! My freinds and I pull crap like that because we feel happy for them and we genuinely want things to go well for them in the end. It's all meant in good humor and enduring love, but if they start to get out of hand let them know. Sometimes people may go a little far.
