Discussion in 'Fun and Games' started by twospiritlycan, Mar 27, 2014.

  1. Which pet would you prefer and what breed?

I don't think we have ferrets here but I'd choose a dog (or two)

I've always had a soft spot for Labradors and Staffies (Staffordshire Terriers). I'll probably get one of each

I like cats too - any breed will do.

Dog, hands down. I'd rather hack off a limb than have a pet cat. Obnoxious little bastards! (Perhaps a slight over-dramatisation)

I've always had labradors and I hope I always will. They are so gorgeous! But I wouldn't mind other dogs either, as long as they are big. I love big dogs

I've got a lovely cat. She doesn't all sorts of funny things. Wouldn't mind experiencing owning a dog sometime in my lifetime though. Maybe when I'm much older.

    Cat. I have a Siamese.

I don't like ferrets and I'm utterly terrified of dogs.

Ferrets, they're the best of all worlds.

Too bad they're outlawed here. :frowning2:

I've had all of these (and multiple of both cats and dogs).

Ferrets are great, but very messy and squirmy. They're not as affectionate as dogs and cats.

I'd have to say cats, though. They're the least messy. However, dogs are great to bring on hikes, and are just fantastic in general.

I have never had a ferret and have always kind of wanted one. Hubby had one years ago and he said his was a little evil bastard so...

I have had dogs and cats my whole life. Right now I have three dogs, two cats, my mom's cat (have to help with it so claim at least half), a rabbit, a bird, two turtles, seventeen ducks, and about fifty chickens. Oh, and the crickets that live with the turtles until the turtles get hungry LOL

I kind of like animals a little bit.

I have a cat, but I really want a dog. A dog would do so much for my mental health and would force me to actually get some exercise. It'd also prevent me from locking myself up inside for unhealthy periods of time when I go through a state of really bad anxiety/depression because I don't give a shit if locking myself up inside is bad for me physically. I look after my animals better than I look after myself so if the dog has to go out, even if I don't want to go outside, I'm taking the dog outside. Dogs also help me feel far less anxious when I'm out and about, especially if its dark or there's a lot of people around. The bigger the dog the better. If I have the space, I'd like an irish wolfhound one day. But I love greyhounds and standard poodles, and I'd adopt a pittie in a heartbeat <3 I don't like really little dogs..... anything smaller than a beagle is not for me.

Unfortunately as good as a dog would be for me, I have a very elderly declawed cat who is PETRIFIED of anything canine to the point where she barricades herself in one 'safe' room and won't come out for any reason, even if the dog is in a crate or out for a walk. We tried. We couldn't keep the dog. Its not fair to re-home the kitty so the dog plan will have to wait....

I'll probably look at getting a dog when I head off to college if I can afford it. If I'm going to be going to school in a different province that doesn't have shitty 'dangerous dog' laws (mine is the only whole province that does because our politicians are horrible) I might look at rescuing a pittie since they get abandoned so often and they're hard to adopt out because people are unnecessarily afraid of them. But we'll see..... it'll depend on the situation, where I can live, how many animals I'm taking with me already (my chinchilla at least will be coming with when I go, and my guinea pig if she's still hanging on...).
