- Too complicated to explain, basically it's the natural progression you come to after reading the Necronomicon.

Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom
A former student spends what little time is left with his old university professor suffering from ALS. It's way better than I can explain.

 

Sounds interesting, I'd read that.

Three Day Road by Joseph Boyden.

3 stories intertwined about a man, his aunt, and his best friend and their lives. Set during WW1. The themes are Native culture (Cree/Ojibway), war, drugs, racism, death, religion/spirituality, and family/community.

I cannot explain this book in 2-3 sentences. It's really good (I have a signed copy good).

 

Haven't heard of it, sounds like a good read

Slaughterhouse Five - Kurt Vonnegut

A sad, strangely funny story that's kind of - kind of not about the author's experiences in WWII, and how they left him questioning the very nature of his existence. There are aliens. And porn stars.

 

I've heard of it and I think it sounds like a really interesting read but I've never got round to actually reading it yet.

Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury

A life time of conformity has resulted in the banning of books (Houses containing them are burned down by fire fighters) and an incredible dumbing down of society. It tells the story of a fire fighter who gets a little bit too curious about books.

 

Haven't read it, but I've heard good stuff about it!

Ender's Game, by Orson Scott Card

Probably against the rules, but I had to take the opportunity Read it many times, it's hard to get into, but once you know a bit about Crowley it gets really interesting

 

Sounds interesting. Maybe I'll have to give it a try soon.
The Women's Murder Club by James Patterson

That sounds cool. I might read it.

The ghost Bird series/ by C.L.Stone (it is a reverse harem)

A girl called Sang is abused by her mother and ignored by her father and sister. She meets these 7 boys and these two teachers who are age 16-19 who 'fix' her up from the fears that her mother has inflicted on her. They go to this 'academy' who stop drug dealings and other things alone that line. Eventually they fall in love but for 1 girl and 9 guys there is a little bit of trouble since they have all got a troubled backgrounds.

There is a lot more to the story but I can't write it all. The first book is free on Amazon but only 6 books are out. (She releases them quickly )

 

I have not heard of that, but it sounds interesting.

I read the first one in the series about two years ago. I enjoyed it, although it was dense, but I never got around to reading the others in the series.

I don't want to give too much away, because the book relies on the way it's told. The only thing I can say it this: A teenaged boy's sister returns from juvenile detention, bringing to light secrets about the siblings' past that weren't known to the boy, Jamie, before. Things aren't always what they seem...

Also, I read that book two years ago, and it was one of my favorite books at the time.

 

Never read it, but it sounds like an interesting concept.

Green Fairy by Kyell Gold.
The story of a gay high school senior in 2012 and a tragic 1901 love story become intertwined when Sol drinks that glass of absinthe. He "loved not wisely but too well."

 

i've definitely heard of it and that it was super controversial but i've never read it.

"Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" by Philip K. Dick
it's about an android hunter who has to track down a group of rogue androids in the future where the world was ruined by war, and the hunter gets torn between his duty and his feelings.

 

That... sounds really bad ass, actually. I'd love to read that.

A Wizard of Earthsea
by Ursula K. LeGuin, 1968​

"A young boy discovers he has incredible potential for magic, which is revealed when he saves his community from barbarian invaders with it, so he is taken under the wing of a powerful sorcerer until, after some incidents, the boy is sent to a magical school. The boy is very talented, so much so, it draws the ire of another student who challenges the boy to a magical duel, which results in the boy becoming scarred by a shadowy force, and setting off the remainder of the book's event..."

This series is often cited as major inspiration for J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series. While there are notable differences between the two, it's always interesting to compare them.

 

well, considering i quite enjoyed Harry Potter, I'll have to check this book out ;D

1984 by George Orwell

This story is basically about a society in which the government controls all, in which freedom of speech and self expression is punishable by death, but, what we would consider bad, is good in the minds of the citizens who live in this society. This book is a fictional narrative on government control and censorship.
This is a pretty popular book, but you havent read it yet: READ IT!!! I absolutely fell in love, and i can see how much this book has inspired so many other books and songs and movies.

 

OH MY G-D I LOVE THAT BOOK SO MUCH! Yes! ^^^ READ IT.

This isn't really a recent book that I've read, (I read it about two and a half years ago) but I really like it and would recommend it to anyone interested.
The Hollow Earth by John and Carol E. Barrowman - Although the plot is dense and complex, its target is a younger audience, such as myself.

Twins, Matt and Em, share the ability to make their artwork come to life, along with being able to enter them. (I don't want to give too much away!) The book has little quirks that you'll find out along the way, but it's fascinating!

 

Seems interesting. I'd take a gander at it.
