I had them as a kid. It was at a pretty young age, so I don't even remember having them.

    When I was a child.

They say it's best to get it then than in your adult years, as it hits you hard and scars your face for life. My dad still has the scars.

My sister had chicken pox 3 or 4 times by the time she was 6. One time they even got infected around her eye. The last time she had them, my parents actually had us sleeping in the same bed. I still didn't get them until I was 8 (so like 4 years later). When my sister got them, she was literally covered, when I got them, there was maybe 5 on my arm (as an example of how not bad it was). My sister usually had them for about 2 weeks, I had them for 4 days.

Needless to say she hated me for a couple of days!

I think my dad passed me a chicken pox immunity gene. I never got them and my nephew somehow aquired the shingles a year ago, I was in close proximity with him, and I never caught them.

Never. And I intend to keep it that way until I die.

All three of my kids got the vaccine to prevent it. It is not 100% effective, but even those who manage to contract the virus suffer far less from its effects if they are vaccinated.

Shingles is the disease that crops up in older people who were previously infected with chicken pox, but there's a vaccine for that too, and thank heavens; it is not a fun disease.

I had them in Kindergarten. Missed the last two weeks of school except for the very last day.
