    Hello,

I saw this on a student forum and thought it would be interesting to bring it here. Please don't be outright rude, but merely state your opinion and why.

What unpopular opinions do you agree with?

I'll go first, I do not think that Charlie Hebdo news agency should be allowed to draw comical images of serious things and/or things that could be seen as offensive to a group of people just to be offensive.

I don't think being a Muslim makes you evil.

Before we go any further in this thread, I would strongly advise everyone who contributes to it to be respectful.

By respectful, I mean specifically that unpopular opinions are OK to express and to disagree with IF your opinions are respectfully disagreed with and that any ad hominem (meaning personal) attacks are kept to absolute zero.

I would like to end with a thought: that everyone takes a position on something from a series of prior assumptions and a ladder of inferences that eventually forms an opinion. If you disagree with someone, the best you can do, instead of automatically disagreeing, is to explore why someone has that opinion, and the best way to do that is to ask why about 5 times. Be careful, the word "why" can be used aggressively, try to ask open-ended questions...in this way, both sides can learn something about the other.

Of course, if this thread degenerates into a flame war anyway, it will be shut down.

People with body integrity identity disorder should have the right to get their limbs removed.

I think you need dysphoria at some point in order to be transgender.

Euthanasia should be legal in my country.

I like the Comic Sans MS font.

I actually was a little bummed that the Starbucks cups weren't Holiday themed. The red cups are boring.

Same! If we don't classify all Christians by the actions of Westboro Baptist Church, then why should we group all Muslims in with ISIS extremists?

I really don't mind Justin Bieber's music, and I also find myself enjoying his recent songs with Skrillex. (I hate his actions, yes, but not his music)

Everything by William Shakespeare is boring and long-winded.

Amiibos, the Wii U Gamepad and Reggie Fils-Aime are the 3 main reasons Nintendo sucks these days.

    Magic is real.

I have a soul, and I don't need to prove it to you.

Old memes have power when used with true conviction.

Applebee's is not that bad. It will do just fine in a pinch.

Unless every single member of a culture is unanimous in their verdict that you are being disrespectful, the concept of "cultural appropriation" is presumptuous. Why is it that the voices of the offended matter more than the voices of the people who don't give a shit? Let's hear it for the apathetic voices. You don't get to take those out of the conversation.

If you can't handle being trolled, you don't belong anywhere near the internet.

I hate Coldplay and Adele with a passion and wish they would forever stop making music.

Very much agreed. I can't stand people who think every muslim is a potential terrorist.

    - Religion is taken far too seriously. If you find yourself about to kill someone over your own beliefs, then you've gone too far. Actually, I hate to say this so forgive me now God, but I think the world would be much better off without it.

    - Gay people shouldn't have to "come out". I feel it's unnecessary b/c at the end of the day all the LGBT community wanted was to be treated equally, so why should we be forced to "come out" when straight people don't have to. Besides it's a sexuality not a personality, what I do in my bedroom with someone I care about is my own business; not the 300+ people I have friended on Facebook or the 10 I actually associate with.

    - I don't think Raven should be fired from The View; I believe America is just being hella sensitive. Funny thing is we hold in high regard the right to freedom of speech/expression and therefore have no problems expressing our own, but more often than not we find ourselves completely incapable of accepting let alone hearing someone else's.

    - Brad Pitt's days as a sex symbol are over, and the guy from Magic Mike isn't that hot either. At least not hot enough to get Sexiest Man Alive.

    - Injected butts are disgusting and so unnatural, it looks like they're wearing a diaper.

    - Caitlyn Jenner shouldn't have gotten Woman of the Year. I feel like they're honoring a person just for being transgender as opposed to being fit for the title; especially when there are other celebs who'd undergone this procedure and done it way before Bruce did that still haven't gotten their respect.

    - Cable, Healthcare, and possibly Internet should be free or at least affordable for everyone. Though this may not be an unpopular opinion..

There are probably more I just have to think about them.

Going out and getting purposely drunk is far more boring than sitting at home doing nothing.

    Anarchy is a good thing

    Markets are pretty cool

One can enjoy both extreme metal and pop music, sometimes simultaneously (#Amaranthe)

Things aren't bad just because they feel bad

    Respecting everyone's opinions is silly

    A large amount of feminism

    Microaggressions are probably a thing

Racist/Sexist/Homophobic/Transphobic etc. Language isn't necessarily bad

Swearing is the greatest fucking thing to have ever been fucking invented

There is no harm with sex being a common theme in society

    Paedophilia isn't inherently bad

    Morality is objective

Hmmm, trying to think of what else.

    Video games are boring.

Netflix is boring. I don't get how people can spend an entire night just streaming movies and TV shows. The very thought of it puts me to sleep.

This recent obsession with anime and Japanese culture confuses me and I don't see the appeal of either.

I am extremely bored with hearing about feminism and women's problems. This is one reason why I am increasingly repelled from websites like The Guardian and definitely the reason that Buzzfeed has completely fallen out of my favour.

Not every opinion is worthy of respect and I don't pretend otherwise.

The adoration people in this country have with dogs - to the point that they elevate a dog's life above a person's - pisses me off. If I see a dog and a person in danger and I'm forced to choose one, the person is getting saved - no doubt about it.

I don't respect the elderly just because they're elderly. If you're 80 and a dickhead, you're going to be told so.

If a woman hits me, I'm going to hit her back and probably harder.

Is that really unpopular? I saw a picture of him recently - he looks old, haggard and tired. There is nothing hunky about this man anymore.

    Atheist feminism.

For some reason, the mere title gets so many angry with me.
