This is more of a thread that helps people improve and extend their vocabulary. Basically you can post new words you have learnt with the definition of the word. Sophisticated and more advanced vocabulary is recommended. You can form a sentence using vocabulary you have just learnt. For Example Unperturbed, and refusing the police's offer of a map, he headed on his way. Definition of unperturbed: (Adjective) not perturbed or concerned. This isn't too serious but I have noticed many people struggle with their vocabulary or English in general and I was wondering maybe a thread like this could help?
Sumptuous very expensive, rich, or impressive Example: the cruise ship claims to offer sumptuous furnishings, exquisitely prepared cuisine, and stellar entertainment. sumptuously, adverb sumptuousness, noun ( in other words, you can name your kid this)
(I already do this with a list of vocab for myself. This thread looks pretty neat, let's get it going!) Incur= Bringing upon oneself, or, coming into by consequence. (meeting often unpleasant results) Example: I incurred my own despicable fate as a purple monster forever. (I think I used that correctly.)

Rebarbative: unattractive and objectionable (adjective) Example: As a prospect this may sound quaint if not rebarbative but the effect is wonderfully supple, even enchanting. Corpulent: An overweight person (adjective) Example:After binge-eating for months, the emaciated girl became corpulent. Acquiesce: To accept something reluctantly but without protest (verb) Example: Though Mr. Laidler wanted to stay outside and work in his garage, when his wife told him that he had better come in to dinner, he acquiesced to her demands.
Homonym: a word that is spelt or pronounced in the same way as one or more other words but has a different meaning. Example 'Please put their things there! These are nightmares for people with dyslexia.
Tersely: Abrupt, concise. Example: "This is of no laughing matter," she warned him tersely. Savage: fierce, cruel, untamed. Example: Wars are such savage affairs. Prominent: conspicuous, well-known. Example: He is such a prominent figurehead. Flit: To move lightly and swiftly. Example: Her eyelids flitted shut as she fell into deep slumber. (To be honest, I have no idea what words are considered complex. It's a shot in the dark for me.)
