So, just because I'm curious, anybody bi/tri/whateverlingual? Even if you're just dabbling?
If so, what are your languages?

ME (for example):
-English (duh)
-Japanese (currently learning)
-Yiddish (dabbling {My Jewish grandmother is teaching me})
-German (currently learning)

So yeah~!

Re: Languages?

I can speak English and some German. I wouldn't know if I'd say that I was bilingual because my German isn't the best. I'm good at it, but wouldn't say that I'm completely fluent.

Re: Languages?

Re: Languages?

I speak English and have interests in British Sign Language and Classical Hebrew.
In the past, I've learned bits of French, Spanish, German and Latin. : ) And I'm hoping to learn modern Arabic and Koine Greek ^_^

Re: Languages?

English- fluent (first language)
Japanese- still learning 「漫画を読むなどのため。高校で日本語を4年間勉強して、大学でも勉強したけど、もっと良くならなくちゃ。 」
German- Have studied, still try to learn (Ich habe für nur ein Jahr gelernt, aber ich kann fidledeedee verstehen.)
Spanish- have studied, not particularly interested anymore. (Yo tengo un puerco en mi nariz!)
American Sign Language- No more than a few words at this point (knew more but I forgot a lot- damn hearing aids, letting me hear and all)

I also know a few words of french, italian, russian, korean, chinese, latin, and a language I made up.

Re: Languages?

I speak English and German and I can understand a fair bit of Italian and Serbian.

Re: Languages?

Fluent in English, obviously. I've studied French for several years, but I wouldn't say I'm fluent and I understand much more Spanish than I can speak.

I speak English and French and have studied German to some extent. I can more or less find my way around with Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Romanian, Latin and Catalan.

Re: Languages?

I love languages!

I speak English as my native tongue.
I have studied German extensively though fluency is not a word I'd use (I don't get to practice it much anymore). I did spend some time in Germany (specifically West Germany...it was before the reunification back in the stone age ).
In college I also studied both Latin and Ancient Greek.
I just recently started learning French. (Comment ça va? )

Re: Languages?

I can carry a conversation in English, American SL, and French.
I know basic things in several major European languages. I really want to be able to at least carry a conversation in Arabic, Spanish, Dari/Farsi, at least one East Asian language (I'm thinking Indonesian), and a couple more SLs.
I also know a lot of religious Greek, Latin, and Arabic.

Fluent English
Base-level Japanese
Good grasp of Spanish. I can read/hear and comprehend most things, but have a harder time speaking/writing.
