Anybody know any useless but interesting facts?

Eg. "If you boil a condom it will fit over a postbox."

Or "A pig's orgasm lasts for half an hour."

Yes, both the above are true.

You get the idea? Good. I'll start off then.

"Almonds contain a very small amount of cyanide in them, you would need to eat 10 million of them in one go for them to kill you."

More people die each year because they put condoms over thier heads and suffocate than from shark attacks.

    Apparently it's true...

More people die per year from being hit by a champagne cork than by poisonous spider bites.

The dimples on a golf ball allow it to travel further than a smooth surface ball would. And I have no idea how many dimples are on a golf ball, because not all balls are created equal.

The most toxic sustance known to man is Botulinum Toxin (cause of botulism and also used in Botox injections, it is 100,000 times more toxic than ricin). It is made by a bacterium called Clostridium botulinum, which is found in............... soil.

[The bacteria don't always make the toxin]

Is that, by any chance, the chemical name of a protein? Not sure which one though[hangs head in shame] In which case, you can convert the serine at the end to serinyl and basicly add any of the bits ending in -yl to the end for infinity and you still theoretically have a protein (or, more properly, a poly amino acid chain), so, theoretically, a longer word :icon_bigg

    Let's see...

In Chemistry, water (freezing point: 0 ˚C / boiling point 100 ˚C) , whose molar mass is approximately 18 g/mol, can be written as H2O and HOH; the latter is correct because it represents the combination of one H+ (hydrogen ion with +1 charge) and one OH- (hydroxide ion with -1 charge), which balance each other out to make a neutral water molecule with a pH of 7.

I'm sure that's pretty useless for most of you. =]

The average human body, if broken down into its constituent elements, (Carbon, oxygen, hydrogen, iron, for instance, to name a few) would sell for approximately $4.75.

    Dingoes don't bark.

Also, Jaguars are afraid of dogs. Even small ones.
