    It could be seen as a love song, or a serenade to anyone dear to you. Rather ambiguous.

    One of my favorites (again, it's so hard to pick just one) is from Stephen Sondheim's Passion. The song is called "Loving You," and it's sung by a terminally ill, unattractive woman who has never known love. She falls obsessively in love with a handsome soldier who has his own beautiful mistress. Though he is at first repelled by this woman, through the sheer force of her love for him, he grows to love her in return. This song is her confession to him. The dialogue afterwards is also beautiful! :slight_smile:

    Perhaps more of a "stop waiting for some to rescue you, rescue yourself" song. It counts.

    I must be the only person in the world who doesn't like love songs (they make my eyes roll of their own accord- for a brief second I have no muscle control of them whatsoever)

    Mine is one I'll bet few on here has heard. MUSKRAT LOVE by Captain & Tennille off of the album Song of Joy from good old 1976. I can still to this day think of riding around in mom's brand new 1976 Lincoln Mark 4 with that album in the 8 track tape deck. It was our favorite song at the time. June
