So I'm curious. For those of you out there who use a new name to better fit your gender, what made you choose it? Did you just take a first name, or did you pick some middle names as well?

    Ximena Monika

Ximena is a pretty Spanish name. I have an aunt with this name. Also, I have an aunt named Monica. But I changed the c to a k to add my own spin.

How do you pronounce Ximena? Xi as in zee?

I'll do mine while I'm at it:

Holly - because it's a pretty name that stuck really well in my head, and it suits me to a tee.

Naomi - mum chose this one because she was so upset when I told her I was changing my birth name. This is what she would have called me if I'd been born a girl.

Cosette - I've always felt a certain kinship with the little girl who was held back and treated like she didn't exist. Now I understand why.

I chose Alexander because I liked it's meaning, it felt like 'me' and I had a feeling it would be easier for my parents to adapt to than my other candidates. I chose Gordon as a second name because all the men on my father's side of the family have it, and I didn't want to raise suspicions. Honestly, it's a shit name.

    Chi, I'd imagine.

My name is actually gender neutral to begin with, and there are like approximately 50 ways to spell it.

In Gaelic however it means "brave" or "vigilant".

Euliam can be shortened to either Euli or Liam, both softer names, with slightly divergent gender aspects so I'm not pinned down to one or the other. Other than that, because I love the way it rolls and sounds. I mostly just use it online to avoid confusion and having to explain all the time.

No really? :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: It's a lovely name, though. I wouldn't mind being named for a plant.

Um. I'm not sure if this is a trans* only thread, but I thought it would be okay if I answered it anyways?

Tor is a nickname I've been called since forever. Nicely gender-neutral. I've been called my birthname maybe a handful of times in my entire life. So, I guess I didn't really choose it, but when I go to switch my legal name, that's what it'll be.

Oh shit, middle names. Haha, I guess I'll just get rid of it?

I love Robin. It's a unisex name and I love its meaning and sound.

I don't want to have a middle name, I'm too lazy to write two names with surname

OH MY GOD Batman you've totally ruined my exclusive trans-only thread!

Maaaaan can you IMAGINE if I was like that? It would be bloody awful! of COURSE it's not trans* only! I just figured it would apply to more of us, which is why it's in here ;D

Oohh, I like these threads. Danica is pretty much the closest thing there could ever be to a female variant of my birth name (unless we're looking at gaelic spellings or whatever, in which case Donna could be more accurate), but it's also a name I just really like. It means "morning star" or "Venus" and is Slavic in origin. I'm going to be choosing two middle names because whatever. Colleen, the first of them, is just a name I've always really liked. I was debating choosing this as my first name, but feel Danica is a better fit for me overall. The second middle name is Magna, which is latin for "great", but actually comes from a forum username. The people on that site have become so important to me, that there came a time when I felt my username there meant so much more than my birth name ever could. Now I'm making it a part of my actual name, just to be a nerd. Well, it was either this, or naming myself Aerith... I think going the subtle route might be best.

I drew inspiration from others. I took Alexander from an old acquaintance I knew on a horror network who motivated me to be a filmmaker and stay in that field. Jerick comes from an actor and drag performer who I was sort of like a rock and a hero for me that I discovered sometime last year.

That's pretty much my story to keep it short.

For the longest time, I couldn't decide if I wanted to go by Josh or Brad. I was leaning towards Josh for a long time. Then I heard that if my parents had named me a male name, it would've been Bradley. So, I ended up going with Bradley, and just having people call me Brad.

For my middle name, I was going to go with Joseph, but I decided that I wanted to keep some of my former female name, so I went with Ashton instead (Ashley is my female name).
