I went to my doctor for various things while I was there. I told her what I have been going through. And she told me that when I want to start to go and see her. She will refer me to a gynecologist. I didnt you would have to see them for the HRT.

What on earth would the gynecologist need to see you for??

That doesn't sound right. :-s Here in the UK the usual route is a referral from a Doctor to a gender identity clinic.

OB/GYN departments tend to deal with hormone-based infertility and menopause, I think. So I guess it kinda makes sense.

Have you spoken to a therapist of any sort yet?

Usually a therapist will refer someone to an endocrinologist, not an OB/GYN for HRT. I don't see why an OB/GYN would be unable to deal with HRT though, since they are also knowledgeable about the same issues usually.

I was wondering but I guess if I need estrogen that would be a good place to start. I can't wait! Im going to Make my appt with my primary doc for 5/10. The day after I come back from Philly. That where I am going to freeze my sperm.

There are some OB/GYN's that will do hormone therapy. So, although it may not be the norm, it's something that is out there.

    Congrats!

I wonder if I should go dressed as male or female? I don't want to make anyone at the doctors office uncomfortable. I wonder? I'd rather go as female if I had the choice.

    Then go as female.

You're a lady going to a lady doctor for lady meds... I'm confused as to why you'd think you should present otherwise. I'd be pretty confused if I saw a man sitting in there honestly...

    Go as you.

Gates brings up a good point there, you'd be a little confused if you saw a man there. :L
But yeah, go however you want to go!

Thank you. It wasnt easy to make the decision trust me. I'll definitely have a bit of a hard time getting on my mom to agree with me on this. I have LOTS to catch up with mom...

Getting people to agree can seem a lot easier if you remind yourself you're not looking for permission or approval.

If you talk to her with the opinion that you need her to acknowledge the situation it's a lot easier.

Funny enough, she's been on my side on everything I've done so far. As long as I am honest with my feelings as long as I am making myself happy aand keeping myself out of harms way she's proud of me. But she told me that she'll support me in whatever it is that I am serious about. Which includes my transition and me becoming a psychologist.

True but I think that the women would have every right to be confused if you or I walked in - not mean, but confused.
