ok so I recently discovered voice surgery is an actual option. I mean I always knew it existed, just was always under the impression that it was dangerous/low success rate, etc. but I was on youtube and found a couple videos from "yeson" a south korean place that does the surgery and the couple people that posted post-op vids sounded amazing. wondering if anyone else would ever consider surgery, I'm not exactly sure how well I'm able to change my voice on my own and I guess it's comforting to know that there's a backup or alternate to regular speech therapy and practice.

I looked into that a few years ago. It doesn't work for everyone but i heard what works best and is most effective is Vocal Training. The best way for this is to look for a music teacher who gives voice lessons. They can help coach you to raise the pitch in your voice to sound more feminine.

    Nope. Not for a minute.

It's one of those things I just don't want. I think it's one thing to gradually change my voice over time (if I decide to do that) but to get knocked out and wake up with a different voice...I think I'd go mad!

I'd do it. My voice is too deep for simple vocal training.:eusa_doh:

IMO, vocal training might be your best option. I don't know if it was with this or another vocal surgery--but people got bad results out of it and damaged their voices.

If all else failed, maybe. But to start with, no. Can training. Your voice on your own.

Yeah in case I wasn't clear, training really is definitely the best option. It's free too

If there is a woman with a higher voice but similar quality to your own, it can be effective to practice speaking like them in particular. When I was trying to make my voice higher/ trying to make myself be a girl, I did this by copying Madonna and it worked quite well. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

The heck ever :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: I'm not shy about weighing in on FtM stuff unless I truly don't know what I'm talking about.

I totally agree with Gates though. My cis bestie who ironically has a naturally lower voice than me, will sometimes sing the low part in old "Alice and Chains" songs and I will sing the high parts. Otherwise I myself try for old Amy Winehouse songs (or Ingrid Michaelson if I am feeling ambitious)

    Would a demo be helpful?

And thanks for not being annoyed. I'm not particularly popular with other guys (ever, on any site or IRL...) and come from a family loaded with women, so I tend to hover more in lady threads. (I'm like the boyfriend holding the purse in the dressing room :roflmao:slight_smile: Meh, women>men anyway.

I sing a lot to female-led songs/bands, and adequately I might add, but it just seems really forced when I do it.
