So I plan to purchase hormones from overseas this week once I get paid and intend on taking 200mg of oral Spiro daily, 6 mg of estrogen daily and 50 mg of progo every two weeks. Basically, I know this is dangerous and I could hurt myself from doing this but I think the risks are worth it. To be honest, between my original plan of putting a bullet in my brain and this new one, I think this idea isn't too horrible. At least if I die from this it is for a good cause and if it works then more power to me I am currently seeing a therapist but our last session was approximately two to three weeks ago and the next one is this Monday. One of the reasons I am making this post is to ask, is srs possible with diy hrt? Like if I do it, then get a prescription, take those meds and then get surgery?
1.) That's not a good idea. 2.) pretty sure that EC does not allow dosage discussion. 3.) I'm quite sure what you are suggesting is illegal in the US
What she said. Also, if you really are thinking of suicide, please call a Hotline or talk to someone.
I think you should re-consider if the risks are worth it. Hang in there and I hope you consider a less dangerous path
First of all, I would like for you to not only reconsider but simply NOT take these medications. Without the appropriate blood work, you have no way of knowing proper dosing and you absolutely must be monitored by a physician. You're only 17 years old, why would you need to do something so drastic as risk or even attempt to kill yourself? In one year, you can do anything you want. One year isn't a long time, trust me. Would you at least consider discussing some non-hormonal alternatives? Please? Self medicating HRT isn't illegal in the U.S., they produce and sell medication OTC and online. My original plan was to self medicate and I still consider it with me upcoming lack of medical insurance, I've done a bit of looking into it. But it's still a bad idea.
It's really not a good idea. you know that too, but i mean...I really am all for lettin' people do what they want, but havin' bloodwork done and an endo makin' sure everything's good and givin' you your right dosage is sooo important.
A 17 year old child does not have the right to do whatever they want to with their body when doing so means damaging/ destroying it. They do, however, have a responsibility to grow up and contribute to society.
SRS is usually only done after 2 years of RLE. And hormones are usually well under way by then. Also, don't DIY!!!!! ---------- Post added 5th May 2014 at 10:43 PM ---------- Also, since you're 17, if you start talking to your doctors and such now, you'll probably be on HRT by the time you turn 18!
I completely understand where you're coming from with this. I've considered this multiple times. But the facts are without someone monitoring your bloods, there's no way to know if you're taking too much/little. And the damage to your liver/kidneys could be so bad that you have to spend the rest of your life on dialysis. So I'll beg you to re-consider your idea. We can't stop you. But if you talk to someone now, in a years time you may be able to start HRT through the safe channels. A year can seem an awfully long time, but we're resilient people. You've managed 17 years with the body you live in. What's one more in the grand scheme of things? You're life is worth a heck of a lot. Don't think about ending your life or doing something dangerous like self-medicating. I'd suggest returning to your therapist or phoning a hotline. You really need to speak to someone. Best of luck to you in whatever you decide *hug*
yeah i was soo totally advocatin' her doin DIY. when you combine my first part with the second part you cut out, I was basically sayin that i'm in general all about people doin' what they want but in this case obviously not cuz duh.
While I knew what you meant, the way it was written was pretty confusing. If you had the 2nd part first, it would've been fine. But it sounded like you were saying: "I think it's a bad idea, but I say let people do what they want to."
Don't DIY HRT, you can do way more harm than good to your system and it's important to be monitored whileon HRT to make sure your levels are in check and your levels don't get out of control.
