My father's objection to me being muscular.

    Hey.

<--- So I identify as a masculine woman.

You know what a toned girl is, right? Smooth tummy, smooth arms, sorta like a runner.

Well, that's not me. I like muscle, and hell I'm working on my six-pack right now. So toned doesn't cut it, I have and want more visible muscle.

My dad doesn't like that. He has stated before that it's a bad idea and that muscle on a girl looks bad and that I shouldn't be using weights even. Just getting toned.

Well I am basically flipping him off by signing up for this weight training class for my senior year of highschool next year, and then I'm doing some serious bulking this summer in prep for it.

But I need some arguments to back myself up, I don't know how to say I am a macho girl to him without it sounding like I want to be a guy.

Advice on getting him off my back?

Just tell him that it's a look that you like for yourself.

You could try pointing out how useful muscle and general strength is.

Don't suppose there's any chance he's a fan of Xena, Warrior Princess? If he is, there's a good trump card to play if he objects that women can't be beautiful and muscular.

Health benefits. The general rule is that muscle = health, and surely your father wants the best for you, righ? You might need to eat a lot of vegetables to convince him.

Tell him you are considering becoming a personal trainer after H.S.-Ask him if he would like to work out with you as your first client- (No charge!)

Then you could say your other thought was joining the Marines....
