So with school happening transitioning isn't going to for awhile. For right now I just want hormone blockers so the effects of testosterone based growth don't continue. How do I get these prescribed, what kind of doctor do I need, can insurance cover it? Thanks in advance!
I'm not sure where you are, but where I am, to get hormones prescribed you must go through gender therapy. Then you'll see an endocrinologist and they're the doctor that will prescribe you blockers/hormones/what have you. I doubt insurance would cover HRT for gender reasons, sadly. Not sure though, and I think it's different in different areas.
I had to get a refferal from my general doctor and pyschologist to a psychiatrist who reffered me to a endocrinologist. The blockers are really expensive, about $400 a shot, but he get half of it covered I think. You'll also need your parents consent, and the process is different depending in where you live. Hope this helps! ride:
