I've recently come to terms with my identity as neutrois or agender. However, I'm not out, except to a couple friends and my therapist. I'm a cis-passing male.

I'm currently single, but I will be attending university in the fall. If I do manage to find a special someone, what are some good words instead of "boyfriend"? Of course this would only be after I felt comfortable enough with the person. I was thinking Partner or Significant Other.

    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks

My girlfriend calls me her mate, which I like.

I have a friend who calls her partner "my person". If anyone asked why, she would say "That's just what I call him" with a smile. She has an unusual personality, so it's rather fitting for her (but might not work for everyone).

My girlfriend calls me her boo or bae, but a really common term for a gender neutral partner is datefriend or datemate.

Partner, Significant other, SO, or lover are all terms that people use to describe any gender. I've heard datefriend used, but I think that's specifically for genderqueer people.

Enbyfriend can be used specifically for nonbinary people (enby = NB = nonbinary)
