Want to breastfeed in future... want to bind now.

I have what may seem like a bizarre question: will binding now influence my ability to lactate later? I have one son who I breastfed and want to be able to breastfeed again since I would like another child.

Hi, I don't think it's a bizarre question at all. If I were a woman I would have exactly the same concern. I found this quite quickly, although I'm sure there is lots of other information about this kind of issue (women's breast health) available elsewhere online, just do a search:

Verious researchers will say different things, but the bit I bolded is what I'm concerned about. And if wearing a tight-fitting bra can do that, it is possible that binding could have a deleterious effect on breast health, as well. I'm not saying don't bind, no; but in answer to your original question, maybe it would be best to wait until after you have had your final baby and finished breastfeeding it, before commencing binding? Just a thought.

I wouldn't put too much stock into that. The last line saying many breast specialists AND cancer organizations have disputed against this really makes me question it.

Reminds me of that one guy who 'supposedly' did a study that found getting shots causes autism. Later it was found to be bogus and he lost all his licensing, etc. Yet people today still think shots can cause autism. I don't know, man. You have to look at everything very critically. Too many people out trying to convince others of ludicrous things without solid research to back it up.

Unless you can find some scholarly research that confirms this, my gut says it's BS. No disrespect meant to Damien, I'm referring to the article/source of the quote.
