I have to go to an anniversary party today, I have a dress but no masculine formal wear. I am not feeling very female at the moment and would be really uncomfortable in that dress. Should I just wear it, and be uncomfortable, or try to dig up something else I could use? My parents don't know I'm gender fluid and might not understand since they are both cis- people. I get pretty dysphoric when I can't dress according to my current gender, though and I will be required to talk to people. I get really distracted and can't focus on anything but the dysphoria. Does anyone have any ideas on piecing together masculine formal wear? My only formal thing is this dress. Thanks in advance.

a nice shirt and tie and if you have a jacket to go with it. If you are uncomfortable at a party that would just be misery.

You can wear a blazer over your dress if you want.

That sounds good or a sports coat and tie. Be brave be daring.

And if she has any trousers it would look even better with a sports coat and tie.

Thanks, guys. I am going to have to wear the dress though. I tried some of my brother's stuff on, but he doesn't have anything that fits and I know my dad does't. Oh well, I'll live.

I'm sorry that you have to go through this. Just think that you'll be able to wear whatever you want when you get out of the house and are on your own .

I know that you really wanted to dress how you wanted to, but for the given circumstances, and to avoid any drama or confrontations, I would have done what you've done.
