How do I explain demigender to people that don't even understand non-binary genders?

Discussion in 'Gender Identity and Expression' started by quietisviolent, Nov 17, 2014.

  1. Hey guys, I need a little help.

I'm starting to feel more identified by 'demigender' and I want to be open about it. The problem is that most people around me don't even understand the concept of non-binary genders. Have you got any tips on how to tell them?
I for example want to tell my therapist, but she seems to find it hard to understand me. I don't know if that's me or her, but of all people I would like to tell her most.

So, any tips on how I should explain?

    Thanks! (*hug*)

It might be worth explaining non-binary identities before you explain what non-binary identities are. This way, you are not dumping a ton of information on somebody at one time.
