Is 25 old to begin considering whether one is trans* and to be thinking about any kind of transition?

No, absolutely not. There are people over 40 years old that transition, and probably much older too.
Do what makes you happy, age is just a number & in my opinion you're still really young.

There are people who have transitioned in their 70s and later.

No. Age doesn't make you more or less trans. The kind of results you get depend on your age, the younger the better, but also on the efforts you make -sports, what you eat, etc. And genetics, of course.

Certainly the trend is that many people are realizing younger; any age would not be an outliar.

I've seen a lot of people that transition older and look great. I think Bunny from Steam Powered Giraffe started transition at 26 and she is really starting to look really great.

25 is definitely not too old. I've known something was up for a while now and accepted my gender, but I probably won't start any sort of transition until the fall at the earliest, and by the end of the year I'll be 25. I think that the 25 - 35 range is a pretty standard age range to handle these things for a lot of trans people. If you knew since you were 3 and went on hormone blockers when you hit puberty...that's much more rare, it's really not the norm.

I wonder if I might just be overthinking myself. I do like being feminine sometimes, admire and sometimes desire the look of a woman, and I occasionally cross dress. But what if that's all it is?

Over-thinking or not, just be yourself. I used to overthink a lot. I would think to myself "do I feel like a guy or just like guyish things. Am I actually into girls, or do I just think they're hot." Having come to terms with it, really the only way is to give yourself time and do what feels right and good. Just as people find love just when they realize they can be single, you'll find who you are just when you really realize that you don't have to label yourself.

I wonder if it might be influenced by my partner. I am normally attracted to more feminine women than her. Perhaps I am just wanting to be feminine to make up for something? Absurd maybe...

I also wonder if it would be a desire that would go away if I were not in this relationship.

It's too late when one is dead! There's at least one documented case of a person transitioning at age 65. Of course one considers the higher likelihood of health concerns. We can have many health problems at any age.

I've also read numerous accounts of people only admitting it to themselves after many years of repression. Quite heartbreaking really. Who knows what else went on in their lives and not everyone has enough time for a lot of introspection.

Ask yourself tough questions about any body dysphoria and social dysphoria. A competent professional can help to guide you. However, at the end of the day, only you can know the real answer.

Have you thought about being genderfluid or something along those lines?

I think age should be no concern.
You just might try what you feel comfortable with... playing with different styles, unisex or womens trousers, different hairstyles...

and you might think about counseling, or talking to someone from an lgbt center... maybe even joining a support group...

I can find an LGBT group...but their meetings are way to far away for me to get to without transport.

I was just shy of 25 when I accepted this part of myself and joined this forum. I haven't shared any of this with anyone in my life, but I've started privately expressing my gender behind locked doors. It's helped a bit.
