Just finished watching this. I absolutely love the part when he spins the imaginary world without strict gender-binaries based on sex. I think about that world everyday. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOmstbKVebM
Not only born with the wrong body parts but with the wrong paperwork! I would not like to live in a gender neutral world, I was born male, body parts and paperwork correct, and I like being male. But people should have the opportunity to correct mistakes made by nature and bureaucracy. Doctors correct minor mistakes made by nature all the time I was born with slightly deformed feet, after corrective surgery I regularly win 5k and 10k road races. I regularly get government departments to correct their paperwork as part of my job. I have never met a trans person in real life but I don't see what the big deal is for every one else, it's not their body parts or paperwork. Just accept everyone as the unique person that they are.
I LOVED this talk Normal rules apply, though - don't read the comments. They're horrible. I'm honestly not sure how people can be filled with so much ignorance
I always loved this TEDx. I really REALLY hate all of the terrible comments it's getting, but at least it has more people on the supporting side. I can't imagine a video like this being as well accepted 5 and 10 years back... It's people like them that make us fear for our sake, but we have to remember to remain strong and fearless.
