I've been considering going to a LGBT meetup but I've been having difficulties finding one specialised for younger LGBT closer to my area (since I don't actually live in London). I was considering going to a group by myself and I need a place that's not to far by train (because I'm trying to do this without my parents knowing). Has anyone been to groups before? What are they like? I actually suffer a little from anxiety so I'll have no idea how to talk to anyone in a group if I do go X'D [I live in the South East of England so if anyone has advice for that area I would be most grateful if you could share ^_^]
Well since you seem to have also gender issues you might contact the mermaids: http://www.mermaidsuk.org.uk/ This is what their website says: What We Offer We offer information, support, friendship and shared experiences. We give support for individual young people, with or without support from their families, whether they are out or not. We will try, where possible, to help their families understand and accept their child's gender identity issue. We will also offer our help to family members, professionals and others who are worried about a child or young person. We will offer our support via telephone, email and snail mail. (*hug*)
Thank you I'll check them out! I also found a small group close by in a couple of towns over so I might pluck up the courage to go in the summer. Thank you for the help I realllllly appreciate it! ^_^
I don't know whereabouts in the South east you live, but if you are in Surrey there is a youth support group. They have contacts in Guildford, Oxted and Spelthorne. Surrey County Council - Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender and Questioning (LGBTQ)
I know my college has one, and I'm from the south east too! Try seeing if your college/school has a group
Wow I've actually never heard of those places; apart from Surrey X'D (which is bad because I took Geography as a subject X'D) Thank you for the suggestions though ^_^ ---------- Post added 27th Apr 2015 at 10:23 PM ---------- Thank you, I managed to find one quite close by (reachable by train) Yayyyyy people from the south-east!!!!!!!!! X'D
I go to a support group ( in the south- east) and trust me they really aren't bad. I also suffer from anxiety and the first time I really didn't want to go, but trust me it's great I highly recommend trying the ones you've found.
Thank you, that's really comforting to hear (*hug*) I've been suffering a bit from anxiety as well ^^' including those damn awful anxiety attacks >3< (I hope your group helps prevent that for you though )
