What are people's opinion on the term 'enby' It seems like a convenient replacement for boy or girl, but I don't want to use a term that might offend people or seem offensive somehow.
I believe 'enby' was created specifically as a neutral noun. It comes from N ('en') and B ('by'), or non-binary. I don't think it's offensive at all? (Unless it's been appropriated by transphobic people.)
It doesn't seem offensive, but when I looked it up it says some people aren't comfortable with it being used? I'm not sure why it would be offensive, but I'm kind of worried about using it if people don't like it.
I prefer "zehir", but I'm technically not non-binary, so I can't really say if I'd consider "enby" offensive or not. I probably wouldn't.
I'm not nonbinary so I don't really have an opinion on it, but from what I've seen on tumblr some NB people don't like it because they think it's childish or something. There might be other reasons but I can't think of any right now.
As CJLiving has said, enby is derived from non-binary. I use it occasionally and as far as I know, it's not derogatory.
