    Hi,
Does anyone know how easy it would be for an American to get SRS surgery in Iran? I don't live there, but I read a lot how they give the surgery very quickly.

I wouldn't trust that surgery to anyone other than a well known SRS surgeon. Which, it's a trans trope, but if you are resourceful enough to go overseas anyway, they have in Thailand through doctors Chetawut and Suporn. You won't lose any time, and more importantly, you will have better results. You want to be able to use your new equipment for sex don't you?

If you just need things gone ASAP I can relate. I would bring up orchiectomy (castration, keeping all the sensitive bits) up with your doctor. I am doing that, it is way way cheaper than bottom surgery and the effect on your hormones is exactly the same.

Can I ask otherwise what you're hoping to get out of bottom surgery that you wouldn't get through HRT and transitioning socially? Not trying to put you on the spot and believe me whatever you say I can relate.

Note on Just Jess' above: Thailand also uses a very novel method that has been correlated to bleedings and dilation problems (writing on the phone, I'll find and add the source soon).

I know how hard the wait is, I'd sacrifice a finger if I could have it done tomorrow (without complications etc.)

But don't rush into anything. Keep looking, maybe you could find somewhere that works well and is faster than in the US. But try to not rush it.

    Hugs

That's just what I've heard though! It might be a good choice, just be careful whatever you do <3

Major surgery like that is nothing I would rush to do, I can't relate to the urge to have it done like you do. But I can relate to how much your life can be ruined if something goes wrong in the operation, international medical negligence is an almost impossible field of law, in fact with somewhere like Iran or Thailand I would say it is impossible. Say something goes wrong and you need medevac'd, travel insurance won't pay as you went there for surgery and I doubt you have the €100,000 to pay to charter a medevac jet and pay for the staff!

For life changing surgery always go the safest option.

Most of women go to Thailand, never heard of Iran being good for such a thing... I thought such stuff was forbidden there, because of the 'shariah'.

Careful with you choice... Surgery is no game, and in this case there is a higher risk that something can go wrong.

(I can't explain why the word 'castration' makes me so uneasy...)

I would do a lot of research before you do this. This is something that is life changing, and has the potential to have a lot of complications. You don't want to make this something that you regret. It's worth it to have a longer wait for a better surgery.

ok, thanks for your input. As for the questions, I'll start with the easiest one I know...the reason I started the post is because I read that in Iran sex change operations are covered by the state for gay people, because being gay is illegal, but otherwise...so for gay people its really horrible, but for a transgender, I had thought, it could be beneficial. What would I get from bottom surgery? A vagina, which besides being the sex organ I wish I had been born with, maybe could help me date and or marry a man.

With Iran, it's mostly forced from what I understand. I wouldn't rush into something like that though as others have said.

I have not been able to find anything abt the quality of surgery... It would be interesting to know abt the quality as they do a large amount. As a mtf trans I can't approve of gays being forced /pressurised.
